SHELTER ROCK DISTRICT |
|
Finance Chairman: Ken Boglia 516-708-1200
Successful financing of the Theodore Roosevelt Council is the direct result of successfully conducted fund-raising programs within each district. Each district within our council has finance goals. These goals are based upon a fair-share formula, based on the potential of the district and the needs of the council. What is Friends of Scouting? FOS is the annual fundraising drive conducted by the Boy Scouts of America throughout councils nationwide. FO$ helps to generate the dollars needed to fund the Scouting program in our council. All units should be recruiting a Friends Of Scouting (FOS) chairperson as their FOS contact person. Units should send the name and contact info for their FOS chairperson to Donal McCarthy. Now, more than ever, Scouting needs your help to sustain its character building programs. As a private, non-profit organization, your gift to Scouting is always tax-deductible. FOS Presentations Pledge to help keep Scouting’s values burning brightly…
We hope that every pack and troop will sign up for a 10 minute Family Friends of Scouting presentation. An ideal time is during a troop’s first Court of Honor in 2010 or at a pack’s Blue and Gold Banquet.
These events are ideal for reaching the most families. Please let us know when you would like your presentation held, so that we may get you on the calendar early.
The presentations, by Shelter Rock District volunteers, will briefly explain the many services, supplies, activities, and camping opportunities that are available to ensure our Scouts have a quality and fun program and give parents, relatives, and friends of Scouts in your unit the opportunity to make a financial contribution to support and continue the best Scouting programs possible in Nassau County.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule a presentation, please contact Donal McCarthy at 627-7136.
Friends of Scouting is looking for FOS Unit Presenters and Follow-Up Callers. · FOS Unit Presenters is a short time position with a 1-2 unit commitment. These people would be trained to conduct a FOS presentation in a unit.
· Follow-Up Callers is a short time position. This person would make 1 time calls to families that missed their unit FOS presentation.
Please contact Donal McCarthy to sign up for any of the above positions.
Trail’s End Popcorn Who doesn’t love popcorn? That’s what makes it the perfect fundraiser for more and more of our units. If your Pack, Troop, or Crew is not selling right now, we can still get you up to speed. Please contact our Popcorn Chairperson, Susan Quigley at 354-2239 or squigleycfp at aol.com
More and more of our units are finding out that participating in this sale, done right, is one of the few things that can not only fund an entire year of program, but results in repeat sales and sales growth year after year.
Support Scouting While You Browse the Web There’s a new and easy way to help support Theodore Roosevelt Council while you browse the web. It doesn’t require special software or equipment and there’s no catch. All you have to do is make GoodSearch.com your new search engine of choice!
Here’s how it works: The next time you’re searching the web, visit www.GoodSearch.com. Enter “Theodore Roosevelt Council” in the “Who do you Good Search for?” box. Click the “verify” button and you should see “Boy Scouts of America—Theodore Roosevelt Council”. Click it to select it. Proceed with your search as you would with any search engine you normally use.
Just by doing this, you have contributed $0.01 to the council.
This may not sound like a lot, but if enough Scouters and friends start using this search engine, the contributions will add up fast.
You can even click the “amount raised” button to see how much has been contributed to the council via Good Search.
Thanks for supporting Scouting! |
